I like photo competitions – the photos are each person’s “best” work and you get to see what people consider to be super good photography. I’ve only ever entered one photo competition – the Telegraph’s photo of the week one that they publicise on Twitter. The theme was “the sun” so I entered a totally awesome photo taken in the Maldives about two weeks previously. It showed Frog doing some ninja skills, silhouetted beneath an immense yellow lowering sun, about half a mile out to sea on a huge sandbar. It was EPIC.
It didn’t win. The winning shot was…guess what…someone in his back garden “holding the sun between his thumb and forefinger”. Like we haven’t seen that before.
I’m not bitter.
Frog is now hosting a photo competition of his own, giving away 5 Pro copies of a nifty piece of software called HDR Darkroom. It’s worth $99 so if you’re an HDR fanatic you can save yourself a fair bit by winning
You can comment on the competition page, share the competition on Twitter (go to the page and click retweet!) or enter up to three photos to the Flickr Group.
Good luck!
